Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in one of the following subjects:
- Botany
- Chemistry
- Geology
- Environmental Science
- Agriculture
- Forestry
- Any science-based Bachelor’s with relevant coursework
Degree must be from a recognized university, as on 1 August 2025.
Age Limit (as on 1 August 2025)
- Unreserved (UR): 21–37 years
- OBC/BC/EBC: 21–40 years (3-year relaxation)
- SC/ST: 21–42 years (5-year relaxation)
- Female (Bihar domicile): +3 years across all categories
- Ex-Servicemen: Age relaxation per Bihar government rules
Physical Standards
Male Candidates: Height 165 cm, chest 84 cm (expanded).
Female Candidates: Height 152 cm.
Vision: 6/9 in each eye without correction (or correctable to 6/6). Physical Efficiency Test includes 25 km walking test to be completed within stipulated time.
Medical Fitness
Candidate must be medically fit, free from communicable diseases, visual/hearing defects, and permanent disabilities (unless as per rules). Medical examination is mandatory post-interview.
Application Fee
Non-refundable application fee ₹100 for all categories. Payment mode: online debit/credit card, net banking, or UPI. Fee must be paid by 16 August 2026.
Selection Process
Stage 1: Written Examination
150 marks, 2.5-hour exam. Subjects: General knowledge, Bihar GK, environmental science, forestry basics, current affairs, reasoning, quantitative aptitude.
Stage 2: Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
25 km walking test to be completed within 5 hours (approx. walking pace). Qualifying test, not scored.
Stage 3: Interview
30 marks. Assessment of communication, forest management knowledge, problem-solving.
Stage 4: Medical Examination
Qualifying. Ensures candidate is medically fit for forest-related field work.
Stage 5: Document Verification
Verification of degree, caste certificate, character reference, identity proofs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Can I apply if I have a Commerce or Arts degree?
No. You must have a Bachelor’s degree in Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Environmental Science, Agriculture, or Forestry. Commerce/Arts degrees are not eligible, even with science subjects.
Q2: What is the 25 km walking test?
A qualifying physical efficiency test where candidates must walk 25 km within 5 hours (approximately). It tests physical endurance for field-based forest work. There is no running or race component.
Q3: Can I apply if I’m pursuing my Bachelor’s degree?
No. You must have completed your degree as on 1 August 2025. Pursuing candidates are not eligible.
Q4: Is there an extension for the 16 August deadline?
No. The deadline is final. There is NO extension. Late applications will be rejected automatically.
Q5: Do I need a caste certificate?
If you belong to SC/ST/OBC category and wish to claim category-based benefits, you must upload a valid caste certificate (District Magistrate issued) during application. Without it, you may be considered only as UR if eligible.
Q6: What’s the cutoff for passing the written exam?
BPSSC releases official cutoff after the exam. Typically, UR candidates require 40–50%, SC/ST/OBC candidates 35–40%. Cutoff varies by category and number of applicants.
Q7: Is there an interview stage?
Yes. Candidates who pass the written exam (above cutoff) are shortlisted for the Physical Efficiency Test (25 km walk). Those who pass PET then attend a personal interview (30 marks), followed by medical examination and document verification.
Q8: Can I apply from outside Bihar?
